ABOUT STARPITCH
“An effective career pitch could be the difference between a new connection and a lost opportunity.”
The goal during an interview is to explain why your skillset is their best fit solution; why your are a suitable match both for both the team and company, why you are the best candidate for the job.
The Story Behind Starpitch
What we often hear, especially when looking for a job, is “follow your strengths”. How true. Pursuing our passion in ideas, projects and activities that make us feel fulfilled and motivated often lead to jobs we will enjoy and succeed. Albeit simple in concept, “following your strengths” can be quite difficult to discover and define.
Finding our passion is an ongoing, lifelong journey. For the lucky few, the signs are clear, however, for most, it will take many moments of thoughtful self-reflection, attention to misjudgements and awareness of the failure to take action that will get this search on the way.
Playing it safe, most choose to pursue their passions during their free time outside of work, leaving the risk-taking few to dedicate their day-to-day work life to their passions. Ultimately, the choice we make will depend on not so much on what our passion is, but dictated on financial and practical circumstances.
But here’s the thing. When we are passionate about what we do, work can be less of a chore and more to piecing a fulfilling life. Whether we are just starting to think about our career, feel stuck in a job rut, it is never too late or too early to start identifying your strengths and passion.
Interviews provide the most ideal opportunity to tell employers why we are the best candidate for the job. To do this, we need to reflect on our personal strengths and why they make us uniquely qualified to succeed in the job role.
